MediaPortal turns your PC / TV into a very advanced MediaCenter / HTPC. Our software allows you to listen to your favorite music & radio, watch and store your videos and DVDs, view, schedule and record live TV as a digital video recorder and much much more. You get MediaPortal as Open Source software. This means you can help in developing MediaPortal or tweak it for your own needs with lots of innovating plugins from our great community.
We are proud to announce the release of MediaPortal 1.0.1!
As we mentioned in earlier news our goals have been improvements concerning the stability and useability of MediaPortal and the TV-Server. We are proud to announce the release of MediaPortal 1.0.1!
One big useability improvement is the introduction of an update feature. For the first time you will be able to update an existing MediaPortal 1.0 installation to 1.0.1 without loosing any user settings.
All you have to do is to run the MediaPortal 1.0.1 installer and select "update". Â Â Â

Installation notes: Please be aware that the update function only works on MediaPortal 1.0.0 release installations. If you have a SVN build installed you will have to do a clean installation. If you want to keep your current settings then please take a look at the related wiki article. If you have community skins or plugins installed then you should update them to the latest version as well or you will encounter issues. As many systems might not need a reboot we do not enforce it. Nevertheless we heavily recommend to reboot your computer after the installation / update has completed to avoid any issues.

- Animations of default skin feel a lot snappier

- Faster channel zapping Â
- Users will receive an error message when video files don't play due to missing codecs
- GPU recovery in Windows Vista will no longer hang the system
- Better handling of system wake-ups from standbyÂ
- Configuration now remembers the removal of optical drives
- Support for the DVD Navigator of PowerDVD 8
- The previous limit of 20 shares was increased to 128Â
- The Refreshrate Changer is now integrated into MP
- Recordings can now be imported even if the channel does no longer exist
- Better handling of skin changes from within the MP GUI
- Subtitles can now be enabled / disabled from the GUI
- Integrate non-linear (smart) stretching of 4:3->16:9
- Automatic start of the TVService if necessary

What happens next? While we are slowly but surely shifting our attention to MediaPortal 2 we are already working on MediaPortal 1.0.2.
 If you want to keep an eye on its development you should monitor the roadmaps of MediaPortal and the TV-Server.

You can use all base functions of ProgDVB free of charge without restrictions in ProgDVB Standart edition. Some additional functions, such as "Picture in a picture"(only in 5.x), AVC,H.264 and DVB-S2 support, work with several audio streams and some other, are available in ProgDVB Professional only.
ProgDVB Standart and Professioanl contain mpeg-2 shareware codec by Elecard. After 21 days you should register it (Start->Programs->Elecard MPEG-2 plugIn for WMP->Elecard Registrator) or use other codecs. For AVC,H.264 support, you should register Elecard AVC,H.264 plugIn for ProgDVB. The registration is done wiht the Serial Number provided in your purchase confirmation email.
